Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need for my first lesson?

Yourself!  You can bring a guitar if you have one, but don't worry if you don't have one yet.  We have lots of guitars in the studio and we can figure out the right fit for you. Parents and guardians that are accompanying their child are encouraged to bring writing utensils to take note throughout the lesson.

I don't have a guitar yet, can I still register for lessons?

We have all kinds guitars in varying sizes at the Studio.  Once you start taking lessons, we will provide a guitar for the session and give you some insight and advice for your future guitar purchase.

Can I bring my Other child to the lesson to watch?  How Long are lessons?

Yes, we have a comfy waiting room where they can sit and hang out.  They are also welcome in the class as long as there are no interruptions.

Lessons are 30 minutes to an hour depending on student's age and ability.

What Happens if I miss a Lesson?

At Start Suzuki, we always try our best to accommodate our students, clients and their needs to the best of our abilities in a way that is equitable for the student and the teacher.  Please see our Policies page for further information.

Is there parking at Start Suzuki?

Yes, there is plenty of residential street parking in front of the Studio.

How Old Does My Child Have to Be to Start Lessons?  Do you teach adults?

 

6 Years old and above is the recommended age to Start Suzuki.  YES!  all ages are welcome and encouraged 6 years and up.

What Happens in Group Class?  Why is it Mandatory?

 

 

During Group Class, your child will have an opportunity to collaborate and play with other students that are the same age and musical ability.  Students get chance to play in an ensemble setting where they learn popular songs in many different styles of music outside of the Suzuki books.  Students learn to work together by listening to one another, learning individual arranged parts to play songs together, as well as establishing and cultivating important social skills and friendships. 

Can I drop off my child at the lesson and leave?

 

 

Up until the age 9 or 10, parents must stay in the lesson with their child.  This is part of the Suzuki Philosophy.  We believe in building a strong student-teacher-parent triangle. In certain extreme cases, exceptions can be made, we are flexible and understanding.

Why does Start Suzuki Ask for my consent to a media release?

 

We want to share our love and passion for guitar and we want to grow our school.  What started as a as big dream and a small guitar studio is now flourishing and developing into a wide community Start Suzuki friends and family.  This is due to all of the pictures and videos that we can share with the world that showcases Start Suzuki through our students' hard work, their concerts and committed parents.  Social media is an important tools that allows us to share our what makes our school special and spread the love!

Can I Pay for one lessons at a Time?

 

Payments are made at the start of the month.  We do not accept payments for one lesson at a time as you are purchasing a lesson package.  Most importantly, the monthly pay guarantees your spot with your teacher.  Please refer to our Policies page for more details.
